Obituary for Marc Todd Johnson, December 10, 1963 to June 21, 2018
Marc Todd Johnson went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2018. Todd(as his family called him) was born December 10, 1963 in Ottawa, Kansas to Virginia Kay Johnson and Bennett B. Johnson. He attended schools in Shawnee Mission and Olathe, Kansas. Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force. He received his Eagle Scout award from the Boys Scouts of America at the age of 15. Following his military service he worked for Coca Cola in Lenexa, Kansas as a mechanic on the production line and solved problems that had engineers stumped. At that time, he invented a device for forklifts that was patented and sold to an investor.
In 2013, while recuperating from surgery to remove what was diagnosed as a benign tumor, Todd visited Central Florida and fell in love with the area. Unfortunately in early 2014, nagging pain sent him to the VA where he learned he had stage four-colon cancer. At that time, Todd decided to stay to share his mother’s home where he received love and care from her.
Following his father’s interest in airplanes, he became a hang glider, drifting from hilltops on air currents to smooth landings and although the colon surgery slowed his activities he purchased a motorized ultra light airplane kit and finished the build. Because of the debilitating colon cancer, he was never able to fly it.
While cared for tenderly by family and Hospice workers in Altamonte Springs, Florida and assured of his place with Jesus, he claimed his perfect heavenly body on June 21, 2018.
Survivors include his constantly caring mother Kay Johnson of Oviedo, Florida; his father, Bennett B. (Mary Kay) Johnson of Olathe, Kansas; his attentive sister Deborah (Darriel) Orr of Geneva, Florida; and his three children of Olathe, Joshua (Shea) Johnson, Justin Todd Johnson and Natasha Kay Johnson; and a sweet beautiful granddaughter Zella Sunrae Johnson.
A military memorial service will be held at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Winter Park, Florida on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10 a.m.
