Sending Off: Casket Choices and Cremation
Caskets are designed to preserve the body for a long time. Alternatively, there are many people who also opt for cremation which is sometimes considered a less expensive and more practical method. It utterly depends on the wishes of the deceased: in this case, it is important to consider carefully what it is you’re looking for.

Cremation Urns
Cremation urns are designed to store the ashes of a loved one and be kept as a memorial for time to come. They generally come in a range of different sizes and can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. They’re often made from a wide variety of materials including pewter, ebony, brass and many more. The style is completely up to the customer.

Caskets
Caskets are naturally on the higher end of the price scale. Just like urns, they can also be as simple or as elaborate depending on one’s wishes. The same can be said for the materials that they are made from.

  • Steel caskets are designed to withstand both time and the elements. They can come in a range of colors including powder blue, pearl crepe, white, gold, silver and more. They are generally on the upper end of the price scale.
  • Wooden caskets are considered to be much more environmentally-friendly. They come in a variety of styles as well and, like steel caskets, will often have padding inside. This makes them good for viewings.

While it can be a difficult decision to make, many people want to give their loved ones the best for their final journey. It’s important to not only think of the costs but also the sentiment and value that it has behind it: usually, this means taking the time to consider what to get in accordance with your loved one’s wishes.
